DALLAS — The City of Dallas announced that two areas in North and South Dallas will receive spray treatments after mosquitos tested positive for West Nile Virus.
According to the city, the area that will be sprayed in North Dallas is bordered by LBJ Freeway, Marbrook Drive, Park Central Drive and Forest Lane.
In South Dallas, the area being sprayed is bordered by S. Malcom X Boulevard, Coombs Street, Dathe street and Cleveland Street.
Both areas will be sprayed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11 and Wednesday, June 12.
The city says residents living in the areas being sprayed should avoid coming in contact with it by staying indoors.
"Residents who come into contact with the spray are advised to wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water," the city stated in a news release.
Dallas County Health and Human Services recommends that residents follow the four Ds to prevent the contraction of West Nile Virus:
- DEET: Utilize bug repellants that contain the active ingredient DEET and follow label instructions.
- DRESS: Long, loose and light-colored clothing should be worn.
- DRAIN: Get rid of any standing water in or around your home.
- DUSK to DAWN: Limit time outdoors as mosquitos are most active from dusk to dawn.
