NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — Two men have been arrested on street racing charges in the death of another man in North Richland Hills in October, police said Tuesday.
Robert O'Brien, 38, and Joseph Branscomb, 30, were arrested on charges of "Racing on Highway with Death," a second-degree felony in Texas, according to a police news release. Their bonds were set at $35,000, according to arrest warrants.
Gavin Owens, 21, died in a crash on Oct. 30. Police said Branscomb and O'Brien were racing along Davis Boulevard near Northeast Parkway moments before crashing with two other vehicles.
Owens died in the crash, but police have not released more information about how the crash happened. At the time of the crash, police called the crash scene "expansive" and said witnesses reported that speed may have played a factor.
Owens was taken to a hospital, where he died. Two other people were taken to a hospital for treatment after the crash.
More information about the crash was not released.
