According to police, no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

IRVING, Texas — A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a North Texas utility pole on Friday, Aug. 9, police said.

According to the Coppell Police Department, officers and fire crews responded to the 1400 block of South Belt Line Road to the report of a major accident around 5:54 p.m.

Upon arrival, police said officers talked to witnesses who described a 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle traveling southbound along Belt Line Road at a high rate of speed.

The witnesses then said the motorcyclist lost control, slid off the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to police.

The Coppell Police Department has since identified the motorcyclist as 23-year-old Tayshawn Latimer of Dallas. According to police, officers do not believe alcohol was involved in this crash.

Coppell PD said it is working alongside the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office in this investigation.
