MCKINNEY, Texas — A 47-year-old motorcyclist is dead after reportedly crashing into a Kia Optima Sunday morning.
According to the McKinney Police Department, officers responded to a major injury collision on North Custer Road at about 9 a.m.
Police said in a press release the crash occurred when a Kia Optima was attempting to exit a parking lot on the east side of North Custer Road.
According to police, while the Optima traveled across the northbound lanes to turn south on the road, it was hit by the oncoming Yamaha R6 motorcycle.
Emergency Medical Services provided aid to the motorcyclist and took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to police, the incident is under active investigation to determine the full crash details.
"Our deepest sympathies are extended to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this challenging time," the McKinney Police Department said in a press release.
