More than a dozen protesters arrested for blocking Dallas Love Field entrance, police say

The protest happened as President Joe Biden was set to arrive in Dallas to attend the wake of the late longtime North Texas lawmaker Eddie Bernice Johnson.

DALLAS — Police arrested more than a dozen protesters blocking the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Herb Kelleher Way at the entrance to Dallas Love Field on Monday evening.

The protesters were calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and for the U.S. to end its support of Israel, according to WFAA reporter Jobin Panicker, as Biden was set to arrive in Dallas to attend a wake for former longtime Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson.

Dallas police said they responded to reports of protesters blocking traffic at the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Herb Kelleher Way around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Police said they gave the protesters three warnings to leave the roadway, but they refused, and 13 people were arrested on complaints of obstructing a highway or other passageway.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
