North Texas chase ends in police shooting, killing suspect near apartment complex, officials say

The incident unfolded around 2:30 a.m. at an apartment complex near U.S. 67 and Henderson Street.

MIDLOTHIAN, Texas — A police chase ended in a shooting involving officers from multiple police departments Friday morning, officials said. The chase suspect later died at the hospital.

The incident unfolded just before 2:30 a.m. at an apartment complex near U.S. 67 and Henderson Street

The Dalworthington Gardens Department of Public Safety said a household at the apartment complex was already being patroled following a July 3 incident involving a suspect making violent threats towards household members and law enforcement.

Dalworthington Gardens officers encountered the same suspect, with an outstanding warrant, on July 12 making threats against family members. Officers tried to stop the suspect, but the suspect didn't comply and a car chase ensued, officials said.

The chase had started in Dalworthington Gardens, near Arlington, then crossed into Pantego before ending in Midlothian.

Midlothian PD deployed spikes causing the suspect to crash into two police cruisers in the the 100 block of E. Ridgeway Street. That's when the suspect started firing at officers, according to a news release.

Multiple officers returned fire striking the suspect multiple times, officials said. The suspect was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

There were no reports of any officers getting injured in the incident.

The suspect's identity has not yet been released as officials said the investigation is ongoing. The investigation is being handled by the Texas Rangers.
