Dozens of units destroyed in North Texas apartment fire

The fire damaged at least 16 units and affected dozens of others, according to the Red Cross.

MESQUITE, Texas — A fire has displaced dozens of residents at an apartment complex in Mesquite, according to the American Red Cross.

The Mesquite Fire Department called the American Red Cross to respond to a multi-family fire in the 3700 block of Towne Crossing Boulevard, an apartment complex name The Place. According to the American Red Cross, the fire damaged at least 16 units and affected dozens of others.

Red Cross Disaster workers are working to determine housing and feeding solutions for individuals who need them.

The cause of the fire is unknown and the incident is under investigation, Mesquite fire officials said.

The City of Mesquite provided shelter overnight for those who were displaced and is working the American Red Cross.
