4-year-old found drowning in a Mesquite pool in critical condition, police say

Police responded to a drowning call at 9:48 a.m. in the 1900 block of Rodeo Drive. The child was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

MESQUITE, Texas — A 4-year-old who was found drowning in a pool Saturday in a Mesquite neighborhood is in critical condition, police say. 

Mesquite Police responded to assist the Mesquite Fire Department at 9:48 a.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of Rodeo Drive, according to a press release from the Mesquite Police Department. 

A 4-year-old was found drowning in the pool, and when officers arrived, they began performing lifesaving measures on the child. The Mesquite Fire Department arrived to take over and the child was transported to a hospital, the release states. According to police, the child was then transferred and flown to Children's Medical Center in Dallas.

In a statement to WFAA, the Mesquite Police Department confirmed the child is in critical condition.
