ARLINGTON, Texas — The Arlington Police Department is investigating the homicide of a man who was found dead inside a South Arlington home.

According to police, officers responded to the 300 block of Kingfisher Lane around 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, after a man flagged them down.

The man reportedly told the officers he had gone to a home in the area to check on a family friend, but when he entered, he found a dead body inside, police said.

According to police, officers went inside and found the body with multiple gunshot wounds in the living room. Police said investigators weren't able to identify the man due to the condition of the body, but they believed he had been killed multiple days prior.

According to police, relatives of the home's registered tenant said they had not heard from him since early Saturday afternoon, which led them to contact the family friend who reported the body.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry at the home and based on evidence collected, detectives believe high-risk drug activity may have played a role in the shooting.

The Arlington Police Department said there is no suspect information at this time but anyone with information about the case is asked to contact police.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will release the name of the dead man once he is identified.
