Man and dog found dead in a running car in Arlington; police say carbon monoxide poisoning likely

Police say they responded to a home on King William Drive Saturday after a 49-year-old man and a dog were found unresponsive in a running car in the garage.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Arlington police say a man and his dog likely died of carbon monoxide poisoning after they were found unresponsive in a running car parked in a garage Saturday.

Police say they responded to a home in the 6100 block of King William Drive after the 49-year-old man, later identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office as Jerry Jennings Jr., and the dog were found unresponsive in the car around 7:30 a.m. Saturday. Jennings and the dog were pronounced dead at the scene, officials say.

There were no signs of foul play, according to police, and investigators believe Jennings likely fell asleep in the car while it was running, and he and the dog died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
