The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 40-year-old man reported missing Wednesday.
The sheriff’s office said Logan Jacinto was reported missing shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday. Officials said Jacinto had been involved in a crash at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, in which the driver of the crashed vehicle ran away from the scene on foot.
Outside Faith Family Church Friday, Rosie Jacinto anxiously waited for good news.
She’s been keeping watch from a makeshift command post as her daughter Sydonia along with family, friends, and strangers canvassed acres of rural Kaufman County, looking for any sign of her son Logan Jacinto.
“We're all. Looking for him been looking for him since he didn't come home,” Rosie said.
Deputies said they searched the crash site near Highway 175 and Jiba Road around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday but could not find anyone in the wooded area nearby.
The 40-year-old father of 2 disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
Logan works as an electrician for the city of Dallas and on Jan. 2, his family says he made the trek to Kaufman County to help a friend.
“He was supposed to be home by 10. But by 3:00. Still wasn't home,” she said.
Through a series of pings to his cell phone and AirPods, they learned his car was in an impound lot and Logan had been in a bad wreck.
“The policemen said they don’t know how he got out alive that he shouldn’t have made it, he's gotta be seriously injured,” Rosie said. “But the way the witness saw him, he looked like he didn't know where he was and what he was doing and all of a sudden he just starts running.”
Deputies and volunteers have been searching both the area and calling around to local hospitals, but so far they haven’t found any clues.
“It doesn't make sense at all or anything. You know, we don't understand. Like how he just up and disappear,” said Logan’s sister Sydonia.
Yet where most might be tempted to give up, the Jacinto family is hanging on to hope.
“All we have is hope and we’re not gonna leave him here and we're not gonna go home til we find him,” Rosie said. “We know the way he is. you know, he's a survivor.
Officials said a team of Texas Parks and Wildlife Officers and K-9s will continue to search Saturday morning. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
