DALLAS — A catalytic converter theft led to a police chase in Irving early Wednesday morning, police said.

The suspects ultimately stopped when their vehicle lost all four tires, according to a police news release.

The incident started around 1:30 a.m. near Texas 114 and Freeport, where a caller reported that three men were stealing a catalytic converter from a vehicle. Police responded and saw the suspects' vehicle driving onto Texas Highway 114. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but a chase ensued, police said.

While the chase was happening, another officer was able to lay down spikes in front of the suspects. The suspects pulled off the highway "and lost all four tires before finally stopping" on a side street, police said.

Three suspects ran out of the vehicle, and two were caught and arrested. A third suspect remained at large later Wednesday.
