Irving elementary school will reopen Friday after transformer issue knocked out power

A transformer problem led to the issue at Townley Elementary School, located off MacArthur Boulevard and Vilbig Street, according to a news release.

IRVING, Texas — An Irving elementary school was closed Thursday because it was without power, the school district said.

A transformer problem led to the issue at Townley Elementary School, located off MacArthur Boulevard and Vilbig Street, according to a news release from the district.

Oncor crews were at the school overnight trying to fix the problem, but power had not been restored by Thursday morning.

Repairs are made by 10 a.m. Aug. 29 and school will resume Friday, Aug. 30. The district said students will not have to make up the day because of additional daily minutes built into the school calendar.

Irving ISD officials will update Townley families through their school messenger phone call system, as well as a text.
