Inside Texas Politics began with City Manager T.C, Broadnax, the man responsible for running Dallas day-to-day. He discussed Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall’s tenure, the new rental bike regulations, hiring more cops, and what he still wants to accomplish this year. Broadnax joined host Jason Whitely and Shelley Kofler from the Star-Telegram.

STATEWIDE

There are a few interesting revelations in the latest UT/Texas Tribune poll. According to the survey, more than half of Texas voters said Texas needs stricter gun control laws. And, more than half of the voters oppose separating migrant children from parents who enter the United States illegally. Ross Ramsey, co-founder and executive editor of the Texas Tribune, discussed how campaigns will respond. Ross also talked about Governor Greg Abbott’s unprecedented power play. Ross joined host Jason Whitely.

There are fewer students enrolled in Dallas ISD now. Plus, for the first time this year, the district is also forced to share some of its tax money with the state.

In this week’s My Voice, My Opinion, Cydney Walker, from Coffee and Politics 101, wonders if DISD should be asking voters this fall to pay even more property taxes.
