An inmate who escaped from the Dallas County jail was captured at a motel in Grand Prairie on Sunday evening, authorities said.

Daniel Brown, 28, was arrested at a Motel 6 near Texas 161 and Interstate 30 about 5:40 p.m., according to the Dallas County sheriff's department.

Dieasha Owens, 28, was also arrested at the motel on a charge of facilitating escape, a third-degree felony, a sheriff's department news release said.

Brown was discovered missing from the Suzanne Keys Detention Facility downtown early Sunday. He had been working as a trusty in the kitchen area of the jail. Detectives believe he might have escaped through a dock area at the jail, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.

Brown was being held at the jail on five charges of property theft over $2,500 and under $30,000, stemming from his arrest in March, the news release said. His bail was set at $50,000 for each charge.
