'I have to pinch myself' | Cowboys owner Jerry Jones shares excitement about IndyCar coming to Arlington Entertainment District

One day after IndyCar announced the Arlington Grand Prix, we now know what the circuit will look like.

ARLINGTON, Texas — IndyCar is coming to North Texas in March 2026 with a street race in Arlington in a joint partnership with the Dallas Cowboys and the official events partner of the Texas Rangers.

One day after IndyCar announced the Arlington Grand Prix, we now know what the circuit will look like.

The circuit will stretch 2.73 miles with drivers flying past the AT&T Stadium home of the Dallas Cowboys, Globe Life Field home of the 2024 World Series Champions Texas Rangers, and past Texas Live!.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told WFAA, that this was an opportunity they simply couldn’t pass up partnering with Roger Penske, owner of IndyCar and founder, chairman, and CEO of Penske Corporation.

“I have to pinch myself to think that we’re going to have an event like this. This is a very serious, serious step forward for sports in our area and you can’t help but be excited,” said Jones.

The event in Arlington will get IndyCar back into Texas after Texas Motor Speedway dropped off the schedule this year. IndyCar had raced at the Fort Worth oval annually since the series debut in the 1997 season through 2023. IndyCar and track operator Speedway Motorsports were unable to agree in 2024.

The IndyCar Arlington Grand Prix will be held in March 2026 – mere months before the 2026 FIFA World Cup comes to the area in June and July.

“It’s an opportunity for us to showcase our sport around the world,” said Penske.

Mayor Pro-Tem Dr. Barbara Odom-Wesley said the City of Arlington is built for huge events like this. She said they’re already working on a safety plan, using what they learned from previous events like the World Series Parade, and the 2024 MLB All-Star Week.

“We go across disciplines within the city and make sure we dot all the I’s and cross all the T’s,” said Wesley.

The course will weave through Arlington’s core sports and entertainment district.
