DALLAS — Dog adoption fees are now $1 every Wednesday at Dallas Animal Services, the shelter announced Wednesday.
The only catch is that the dogs must be at least 6 months old.
In addition, dogs are also $1 this Thursday — the Fourth of July.
The Fourth of July is one of the worst holidays of the year for pet owners. DAS posted on Nextdoor Wednesday that more pets go missing on the Fourth of July than any other day of the year, which is why they are trying to empty the shelters to have more room to bring in any strays they may pick up over the holiday.
Dog adoption fees will also be reduced to $5 during the month of July for anyone who comes in to donate a blanket — a discount from the regular dog adoption fee of $45.
