Health Care Systems of America to assume operations for several Steward Health Care Facilities including Medical Center Southeast Texas

On Wednesday, September 11, HSA will assume daily operations of the multiple Steward Health Care facilities according to a press release from HSA.

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Medical Center of Southeast Texas will soon be under new management after Healthcare Systems of America (HSA) has agreed to assume operational control over Steward Health Care facilities in several states.

On Wednesday, September 11, HSA will assume daily operations of the multiple Steward Health Care facilities in Texas, Louisiana and Florida according to a press release from HSA.

The facilities include:

  • Glenwood Regional Medical Center – West Monroe, LA
  • St. Joseph Medical Center – Houston, TX 
  • Medical Center SE Texas – Port Arthur – Port Arthur, TX 
  • Coral Gables Hospital – Coral Gables, FL
  • Florida Medical Center – Lauderdale Lakes, FL 
  • Hialeah Hospital – Hialeah, FL 
  • North Shore Medical Center – Miami, FL 
  • Palmetto General Hospital – Hialeah, FL 

“Healthcare Systems of America is devoted to providing these communities the quality healthcare they deserve while saving the jobs of the employees that give so much to these hospitals and their patients,” said Mike Sarian, CEO of Healthcare Systems of America. “Making sure that these communities have access to the critical care they need is our top priority.”

Further details of the transition will be provided in the coming weeks according to the HSA press release.

Prior to this acquisition, the future of Medical Center of Southeast Texas was in question after their parent company, Steward Healthcare Systems, filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy.
