The 33rd Kaboom Town is happening on Tuesday in Addison. All week, the town of Addison has been setting up for the event that took a year to plan.
For those who want to drive to the event, it is recommended that you get there early. The event starts at 5:00 on Tuesday, but gates to Addison Circle Park will open at 4:00.
There are four parking structures that will have free parking for commuters. Other paid lots will be available as well.
People who want to use a ride-share app will sit in the same traffic, but can avoid the hassle of parking. The town has partnered with Lyft for a discount and a designated drop-off area.
Hotel packages are also being offered to guarantee a spot in the park. The hotels are walking distance from Addison Circle Park.
After the fireworks show at the park, commuters can expect one to two hours of traffic heading out of the town. Be sure to fill up your gas tanks and pack plenty of water. The Addison Airport Tollway will flow in one direction only after the fireworks. The tolls will be paid for by the town to keep cars moving.
Another option is to stay and watch the live band after the fireworks and wait for traffic to die down.
For anyone that wants to avoid Addison Circle Park, many area restaurants are offering watch parties. The view of the fireworks can be seen from spots all around town.
Several road closures will exist due to the set up, event and ultimately the take down of the event.
Drivers should use alternates like Belt Line Road and Keller Springs Road as east-west alternates. Addison Road and the DNT are north-south alternates. Drivers should still expect delays on roads outside of the closure zones due to the sheer volume of attendees. To see a list of those closures, go here.
