FORT WORTH, Texas — On Sept. 14, 2018, Officer Garrett Hull was shot in the line of duty. He was conducting surveillance on three suspects when they robbed a sports bar. One suspect shot Hull.
The 17-year veteran of Fort Worth Police Department died at the hospital later that evening.
Now, months later, his team is finding ways to commemorate their fallen brother.
"I think just starting from September to now, it's been a constant process of healing," said Manny Ramirez, president of the Fort Worth Police Officers Association.
On Thursday, a portrait of Hull was unveiled at police headquarters. The frame will hang on the wall, along with portraits of other Fort Worth officers who died serving.
"Every day that you walk these halls, you get to look at his face and you understand the sacrifice that he made," Ramirez said.
On Saturday, Hull's family and members of the Fort Worth Police Department will travel to Washington D.C. as Hull's name will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
