Half Price Books is closing in this North Texas city after 20 years

Half Price Books has about 120 locations in 19 states, including about 40 in Texas.

CEDAR HILL, Texas — Dallas-based Half Price Books is closing a chapter on another North Texas location after about 20 years.

The chain, which sells used books, movies, music and more is closing its Cedar Hill location at 711 N. Highway 67 Sept. 29, a Half Price Books spokesperson confirmed. The Cedar Hill Half Price Books opened in 2004.

“While we wish we could stay, unfortunately, customer traffic has decreased over the years and it is no longer financially viable for us to keep the Cedar Hill store open,” Half Price Books spokesperson Emily Bruce said.

Half Price Books has about 120 locations in 19 states, including about 40 in Texas, according to their website.

The closure of the Cedar Hill location comes after the Mesquite location closed earlier this year in the Market East Shopping Center after 30 years in business.

Nearby Half Price Books locations include one in Mansfield at 1551 Highway 287 N, Arlington at 2211 S. Cooper Street.

The news also comes shortly after La Casita Bakeshop, by James Beard-nominated pastry chef Maricsa Trejo, opened a shop serving coffee and pastries out of Half Price Books’ flagship store on Northwest Highway, to replace Black Forest Coffee.

Pat Anderson and Ken Gjemre first opened Half Price Books in Dallas in 1972, according to their website.
