FORNEY, Texas — North Texas is about to get yet another H-E-B store in the area, local officials announced Friday.
The city of Forney confirmed Friday that H-E-B, the renowned regional supermarket chain, has plans to build a new store within The Villages at Gateway development. This development, located just east of North Gateway Boulevard and U.S. Highway 80, is poised to offer H-E-B "an excellent location and serve as a premier retail destination for our region," Forney said in its press release Friday.
"We are thrilled to welcome H-E-B to the City of Forney," Forney Mayor Jason Roberson said. "We look forward to working with them and can't wait to share more information about H-E-B's progress and details about The Villages at Gateway. H-E-B's presence will be greatly beneficial and proves the City of Forney's commitment to fostering economic growth and creating opportunities for our community."
As plans for H-E-B's store at The Villages at Gateway take shape, the city of Forney said it anticipates sharing more details about the development in the future.
Along with Forney store, H-E-B is expected to open stores in Melissa, Prosper and Rockwall next year. Other stores have already opened in Frisco, McKinney, Allen and Plano. Two stores in Alliance and Mansfield, currently under construction, are expected to open this year.
Two Joe V's Smart Shop by H-E-B stores are also planned to open in Dallas, which H-E-B says is part of its family of brands offering an innovative price format delivering high-quality, fresh products at low prices.
