DALLAS — H-E-B officially broke ground on its second Dallas Joe V’s Smart Shop Wednesday. It’s expected to open next spring.
The 55,000-square-foot grocery store at the corner of Buckner Boulevard and Samuell Boulevard is across from a Walmart Supercenter and a Sam’s Club. The store is expected to employ about 200 people.
Joe V’s Smart Shop has 10 locations in the Houston area, where it launched in 2010. H-E-B, which operates Joe V’s Smart Shop, began construction last year on a Joe V’s location at the corner of Wheatland Road and Highway 67 in Dallas, which is expected to become the brand’s first store to open outside the Houston area. That store’s expected to open this summer.
“We’re excited to continue our growth in the Dallas area and eager to serve customers in the metroplex with top quality service and the freshest products at the lowest prices in the marketplace,” H-E-B COO Roxanne Orsak said. “We look forward to bringing this proud H-E-B brand to more Texans.”
In conjunction with the groundbreaking, Joe V’s Smart Shop also announced a total of $30,000 in gifts to area schools and nonprofits with $10,000 each going to Buckner International, Dallas ISD’s Skyline High School and Frank Guzick Elementary.
As part of its family of brands, H-E-B currently operates Central Market stores across Texas, as well as Joe V’s Smart Shop and Mi Tienda stores in the Houston area. H-E-B also operates Favor Delivery, an on-demand delivery service.
