GRAPEVINE, Texas — The storm-damaged Grapevine Sam's Club store that shut down in 2022 is reopening its gas station Friday, ahead of the full store opening later this year, officials announced.
The company had initially planned to permanently close the store after it was badly damaged in December 2022, when multiple tornadoes ripped through North Texas.
But this past December, Sam's Club officials announced the store, located off Texas 114 and Texas 26, will be reopening in late 2024 after extensive renovations. There hasn't been an opening date set for the full store, but the store's members-only gas station reopened Friday.
As part of the reopening, Sam's Club is offering reduced membership prices for the Grapevine location through March 15: Plus level memberships will be $60, as opposed to $110, and Club memberships will be $15, as opposed to $50. Sam's Club is also giving $5 in Sam's Cash on Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2, to members who buy gas through the Scan & Go Fuel app.
The reduced prices and discounts are only available at the Grapevine store, in person, company officials said.
Sam's Club officials in December said the renovated store will have a focus on innovation and "showcase leading technology from Sam's Club, improved services and an extension selection of high-quality products," among other things.
The Grapevine Sam's Club was among several businesses damaged by the December 2022 storms, including the Grapevine Mills Mall, a nearby Walmart and a Discount Tire. Five people were injured in the storms.
