GRANBURY, Texas — A 72-year-old man died of hyperthermia in Granbury last week, officials said.

Donald Gene Glenn was identified as the man who died, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office.

Hood County Sheriff's Office officials said Glenn was flown from his Granbury home to a hospital in Fort Worth on Aug. 17 after a medical emergency around 4 p.m. While more information about the emergency wasn't released, officials did confirm that Glenn's air conditioner was out that day.

He died at the hospital emergency room, according to the medical examiner. An autopsy found that Glenn died of hyperthermia, when a person's body temperature gets abnormally high. His death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner.

North Texas has seen sweltering triple-digit temperatures over the last week. On Aug. 15, Dallas County health officials said a 79-year-old woman with pre-existing medical conditions died of a heat-related situation.

Temperatures reached into the 100s over the weekend and again early this week.
