GRANBURY, TX -- The Leslie's moved to Stroud Creek Estates on Lipan Highway for a little peace and quiet. It hasn't exactly been so peaceful, though, during the past year.
"If we get the amount of rain we're supposed to get tonight, we'll be stuck. Again," said Derek Leslie.
He and his wife Kirstie, along with a few dozen neighbors, said Stroud Creek is becoming a major flooding problem.
Their part of the neighborhood only has one road in and out, and it frequently is washed out by flash flooding.
Two weeks ago, a driver had to be rescued by Hood County authorities when his truck got stuck.
The Leslie's said that is becoming the norm anytime there is a significant rainfall.
"I'm pregnant. It's nerve-wrecking," said Kirstie, who worries she may not be able to get to the hospital in the event of an emergency.
The couple said they're trying to get the county to consider building a bridge of some kind.
A former retaining wall that bordered Topeka Court was taken down last year.
During the drought, Kirstie said the creek bed remained extremely dry. They didn't even know there could be frequent problems until last May.
"How can we sell if this is happening? I don't want to, but we have to think about it," said Derek.
Cell phone video taken during recent storms showed the creek turning into something that looks more like the Trinity River.
Derek said they're already planning to stay at a hotel, or with family in Fort Worth, on Sunday and Monday in case severe weather dumps too much rain in their area.
