FORT WORTH, Texas โ During a chilly Wednesday morning, eight puppies were dumped on the side of a freeway before a good Samaritan rescued them.
Pictures of the discovery were shared on the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) Facebook page, showing the pups sitting inside a heavy-duty utility box.
According to HSNT, the good Samaritan spotted someone dumping a duct-taped box on the side of I-35 NEAR 1187 in Fort Worth. He noticed something was odd about the situation and slowed down to get a better view.
When he stopped to look, he saw a puppy's head peeking through a crack in the box as the other person drove away. He immediately turned around, opened the box, and found the abandoned puppies.
He took the litter to HSNT's facility off Lancaster Avenue in Fort Worth.
"It's shocking and makes us sick to our stomachs to think about what could have very easily happened. These puppies owe their lives to that Good Samaritan who listened to his gut and knew something was wrong," HSNT said in the post.
Now HSNT is asking for donations to help care for the puppies before they can go up for adoption. At last checked, $1,751 has been raised on HSNT's Facebook page.
