GLEN ROSE, Texas — Three people were killed in a head-on crash on U.S. 67 in Somervell County on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. near County Road 217, just east of Glen Rose, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Somervell County is located southwest of Fort Worth.

Officials said a 2011 Dodge Nitro heading eastbound crossed into the westbound lanes and hit a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse.

The driver of the Dodge Nitro and the driver and passenger of the Traverse died in the crash.

The Nitro driver was identified as Robert Schiller, 37, of Glen Rose, officials said. The Traverse driver was identified as Steven Storie, 68, of Godley, and the passenger was identified as Ann Storie, 65, also of Godley.

The Godley Fire Department confirmed that Steven Storie was a firefighter there.

"We mourn in sadness with his family but we know Steve's heart and his wife and we know exactly where they abide today!" the department posted. "Steve did so much for this department and always thought of others before himself."

No one else was in either vehicle when the crash happened. Troopers are still investigating why the crash happened. More information was not released.
