GARLAND, Texas — The doors at the Garland DMV Mega Center were closed Wednesday morning after a report of a suspicious person, officials said.

Employees with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Driver License Division alerted police after they saw a person wearing a ski mask and carrying a gun walking in the parking lot.

When officers with the Garland Police Department arrived at the 4000 block of Saturn Road, the suspect had already left.

Chopper 8 flew over the center just before noon, and police cars could be seen as well as a few residents waiting outside the building.

Shortly after the Garland Mega Center reopened the suspect was spotted nearby and taken into custody, DPS said. The center closed for the remainder of the day out of an abundance of caution.

No injuries were reported.

The center is expected to reopen Thursday at 7:30 a.m.
