GARLAND, Texas — The Garland Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is working to reunite pets displaced by recent storms with their owners.

The shelter said in a post on social media Friday that 70 animals arrived at the shelter at 1902 State Highway 66 in Garland since Tuesday after the storms. The shelter was already full with no additional space available.

Since then, the shelter’s only been able to return 12 pets to their homes as of Friday.

People missing a pet are asked to call: 972-205-3570, option 2, visit the shelter’s website or come by the shelter.

“Please remember, during inclement weather, it’s so important to bring your pets inside and ensure they are microchipped. This not only keeps them safe but also makes it so much easier to reunite them with you if they get lost,” the shelter says.
