Frisco police have confirmed that a shooting that left a couple dead in their home Saturday was a murder-suicide.
Police say William Edward Taylor, 50, killed Mary Etta Redwine, 33, and then turned the gun on himself. It was unclear whether the two were married, but they had a 12-year-old daughter.
Before the shooting, the daughter ran to a neighboring house for help about 5:30 p.m. She said her father had a gun to her mother's head.
When the neighbors called 911, there was a misunderstanding between the caller and dispatcher about where the incident was taking place, and officers were sent to the neighboring home, police said.
In the confusion, officers entered the house of the neighbors, where the homeowner had armed himself, thinking the commotion was Taylor trying to break in.
Police quickly sorted out the situation and surrounded the correct home in the 9100 block of Apollo Court about 12 minutes after the initial 911 call.
After unsuccessfully trying to contact the couple, officers entered the home about 9 p.m. and found Taylor and Redwine dead from gunshot wounds.
