FORT WORTH, Texas — Longtime Tex-Mex restaurant Los Vaqueros is heading to a new spot in the Fort Worth Stockyards. But for at least a little while, fans of the Cowtown staple will get a chance to go back in time.

Los Vaqueros this week announced they'll reopen their doors at 2629 North Main Street on Thursday as part of their 30th anniversary at the location. The restaurant decided on the special return to their old home -- the Dominick Hart & Son's Livestock Company building -- since their new location at Rodeo Plaza "is not quite ready," they posted on Facebook.

Los Vaqueros has been in business for 41 years in the Stockyards but is most known for its decades-long run at the Hart & Son's building. But back in May, the restaurant announced that it reached an agreement to sell the building and that it planned to move down the street to the Stockyards Event Center at 2507 Rodeo Plaza.

Los Vaqueros closed up shop at the Hart & Son's building back in June, with plans to open the new location sometime by the end of summer. It's not clear how much that timeline has changed, though it seems like the new Los Vaqueros will still open soon.

In the meantime, the restaurant owners apparently still have the keys to their old building.

"We have some fun surprises and OPEN TABLE is now accepting reservations," Los Vaqueros posted. "I know this is a bit confusing but as a restaurant team and family, we simply couldn't let this important weekend go by without celebrating you and 41 years in the Fort Worth Stockyards!"

It's not clear how long Los Vaqueros will stay open at the old spot, but Open Table lists reservations through the end of the month.

To all of our guests, friends, and family....our new beautiful space at Rodeo Plaza is not quite ready, we want it to be...
