FORT WORTH, Texas — A six-year-old boy died in a reported drowning in Fort Worth on Tuesday evening, police said.
Andrew Skinner was identified as the victim, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office.
The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. in the 5800 block of Westgate Drive in the Marine Creek Ranch neighborhood of northwest Fort Worth, according to a police news release.
Officers responded to a report of a child who had drowned. When they arrived, they found that the child, Skinner, had already been removed from the water, police said. Skinner was taken to Cook Children's Medical Center, where he died, according to the medical examiner.
Eagle Mountain ISD officials confirmed to WFAA that Skinner was a first grader within the district. District crisis counselors were on campus Wednesday to support the students and staff in classrooms, small groups, and individually as needed, officials told WFAA.
Skinner's official cause of death is pending.
Police are still investigating the incident. No further updates were released by officials.
