FORT WORTH, Texas — A Fort Worth police officer has been arrested on a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a young child, the department said.
Police said that on Nov, 2, 2022, the department responded to a report of a sexual assault involving a minor and that a Fort Worth officer was determined to be the suspect.
Officer Raymond Lara, who has been with the department for three years, was placed on restricted duty and stripped of all police powers amid the investigation.
Fort Worth police announced that Lara was arrested without incident and booked into jail on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023. He was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a young child.
"The Fort Worth Police Department holds its officers to a high standard both on and off duty, and does not tolerate criminal misconduct or unethical behavior," the department said in a statement.
Further details on the case involving Lara were not released as the investigation continues.
