Fort Worth man found dead after saving child from West Fork of Trinity River

Fort Worth Fire Department tells WFAA a middle-aged man jumped in the Trinity River to save a child. The child is okay, but the man never resurfaced.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth Fire Department has found the body of a man who never resurfaced after saving a child in the West Fork of the Trinity River.

According to FWFD, a middle-aged man jumped into the West Fork of the Trinity River at Gateway Park to save a child. The child is okay, but the man never resurfaced, the fire department told WFAA.

The department had multiple crews assigned to the incident, including two engine companies, a truck company, a dive team, two chiefs and medic.

FWFD says a dive team located the man's body in deeper waters.
