Newly-released bodycam shows Fort Worth officers fatally shoot man with 'machete style knife'

Police said the man's mother called 911. Two officers shot him when he "presented the officers with a deadly threat."

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth detectives are investigating a deadly shooting that involved officers Saturday evening.

Police said they got a 911 call on Jan. 7 at 5:45 p.m. from a woman saying her adult son was in her home and possibly armed with a knife.

Officers got to the scene in the 3500 block of Wedgworth Road South and saw the man – identified on Jan. 12 by police as 37-year-old Robert Bradshaw – with what they described as "a large machete style knife." According to police, officers told the man to drop the knife.

Two officers shot Bradshaw after he "presented the officers with a deadly threat," police said.

On Jan. 12, Fort Worth police released an edited bodycam video of the incident

In the video, one of the officers is heard saying "get your taser out" after giving Bradshaw demands to drop the knife. Bradshaw then runs toward the door and officers fire shots at him, the video shows.

Bradshaw received medical aid but was pronounced dead at the scene.

This incident marks the seventh officer-involved shooting from the Fort Worth Police Department in the last six months, and fourth officer-involved shooting in the last three months.
