FORNEY, Texas — A woman was found fatally shot in a garage in Forney on Sunday night, and another person connected to the incident was later found dead in Arlington, police said.
The initial shooting was reported around 10:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Mandarin Street in Forney. Officers responded and found a woman with gunshot wounds in a garage, according to a police news release.
The woman died at the scene.
Police said investigators found evidence that "indicated the suspect in the shooting fled the scene only after also sustaining injuries."
Forney alerted nearby agencies about the incident. Shortly after that, Arlington police notified Forney about someone who was found fatally shot in their jurisdiction, the release said.
Arlington police tell WFAA that officers responded to an ER facility on Cooper Street at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday after getting reports of a victim found unresponsive in the parking lot.
When APD arrived, they said they found a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound. The teen, later identified by medical examiner records as Andrew Luis Chazarreta, was pronounced dead at the scene.
As investigators worked on the Arlington case, they were alerted by Forney police about the shooting in their city. According to APD, Forney officials were looking for a suspect who may have been shot during their incident.
Police said Forney and Arlington detectives "have determined the two scenes are connected," but more information was not released. Texas Rangers were helping in the investigation.
Forney police said the shooting appeared to be isolated. There was no immediate risk to the public, according to the release.
Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to contact the Forney Police Department.
