FORNEY – Students say a tenth grader's suicide was prompted by bullying at Forney High School.
There is now a memorial Facebook page for Alexis Radzimski, and an outpouring of support.
On Twitter, one friend posted, "In all honesty, I like that Forney is able to rally together for Alexis like this. I'm just sad that it took her death for us to finally see."
A mother in the community, who asked not to be identified, said her daughter had also been bullied and contemplated suicide.
"She had cut her arms, and yes," the mom said. "It's very heartbreaking."
She said the kids in school were very harsh, "And [there were] messages to kill herself and 'Nobody likes you,' and just that kind of stuff," she said. "Going to the schools did no good."
A lot of the bullying happens on the Internet, and can be difficult for schools to monitor.
The Forney Independent School District does offer anti-bullying programs and says they intervene when they get complaints. But many teens take the messages of hate to heart.
"It starts at a young age -- that's the thing," the mom said. "It's heartbreaking."
Another Forney student tweeted out lyrics to the Rascal Flatts song "Why."
"Oh I had no clue you were masking a troubled soul," the tweet read. "God only knows what went wrong and why you would leave the stage in the middle of a song."
The district issued a statement late in the day saying they were saddened by the loss of one of their students and say they offer counseling and programs to deal with this issue.
The Forney Police Department says their investigation into this case is on-going.
