Fire causes significant damage to apartment complex in Dallas

According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, about 45 firefighters assisted in the blaze.

DALLAS — Dallas Fire-Rescue says a structure fire at the Meadows at Ferguson Apartments caused significant damage Saturday evening.

According to DFR, around 6:31 p.m., crews responded to the apartments at 11760 Ferguson Rd.

It was first reported that smoke was coming out of an apartment on the second floor. However, conditions quickly got worse and fire was seen coming out of the roof, DFR says.

According to DFR, when crews tried to get into the building, Command pulled everyone out, so that they could fight the fire defensively.

DFR says around 45 firefighters were on the scene, working to the extinguish the flames and it took them nearly two hours before it was out.

According to DFR, the intensity of the fire caused the roof of the building to collapse. This left significant damage to the building, making it structurally unsound. It will have to be torn down, but fortunately, the 12-unit apartment was mostly vacant and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently listed as undetermined.
