Irving is one of two Texas cities listed in America's 50 best cities to live, according to 24/7 Wall Street, a content partner of USA TODAY.
The city of just over 232,400 people landed at No. 49 on the list. Missouri City, just southwest of Houston, was listed at No. 46.
24/7 Wall Street, a site offering financial news and commentary, used "data on the 550 U.S. cities with populations of 65,000 or more as measured by the U.S. Census Bureau" to compile the list.
"Data were collected in nine major categories: crime, demography, economy, education, environment, health, housing, infrastructure, and leisure," the site said of its methodology.
Irving's median income of $146,500 and 178.6 amenities per 1,000 residents helped it find a spot in the top 50.
"The city has also undergone a recent economic boom," writes 24/7 Wall Street. "Employment grew by 5.9% between 2012 and 2014, significantly higher than the national growth rate of 1.8%."
"Also, with a violent crime rate of 221 incidents per 100,000 people, the city is significantly safer than the state as whole, where the rate is nearly double at about 406 incidents per 100,000 residents."
The myriad of businesses, parks and amenities in the Las Colinas area of Irving were also mentioned.
Irving could be poised for another economic boost if a proposed plan for the Old Texas Stadium site come to fruition.
