SEAGOVILLE, Texas — Officer J. Beck with the Seagoville Police Department arrested 27-year-old Chaderious Avery during a routine traffic stop Monday after discovering he was wanted for attempted capital murder.

According to a news release from the city of Seagoville, Beck noticed two suspicious cars in the 2800 block of Highland Meadows Drive around 3:30 a.m.

The cars were reportedly in a parking lot at the Highland Meadows subdivision entrance community pool, which was closed at the time, according to the city.

The city said Officer Beck approached Avery and a woman in one of the cars and identified them.

According to the city, Beck was notified by the Seagoville Police Department dispatch that Avery had a warrant out for his arrest issued by the Pine Bluff Arkansas Police Department for attempted capital murder. It was noted that he also had a parole violation for a prior charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The city said in the news release that Avery had previously been involved in a shoot-out in a parking lot with another man. An officer sat in her patrol car and witnessed the shooting and Avery reportedly came up to her window and shot at her as she jumped to the floorboard. The officer was not seriously injured, according to the city. Following this shootout, Avery fled to Texas.

According to the city, Beck confirmed Avery's warrant, arrested him and took him to the Dallas County Jail. The woman in the car was found to have no connection with any of the crimes and was released without charges, the city said.

"In light of recent events involving unprovoked attacks on law enforcement, we wish to acknowledge Officer Beck's decisive actions in apprehending an individual who posed a threat to society and this community," the city said in the news release. "Thank you Officer Beck for all that you do in keeping the community and the citizens of Seagoville safe."
