'It's not right' | Family members mourn their loved one killed in suspected drunk driving crash on I-35W

Fort Worth police arrested and charged a 19-year-old man for intoxication manslaughter.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Out of all Frinchesca Gunn’s favorite memories of her Uncle Willie, the one that sticks out the most is the time he came over to help cook.

“He came to my house, we were gonna cook some pork chops,” she said. “Me and my sister go in the kitchen. He has seasoned the pork chops with cinnamon, we were in there cracking up.”

It’s funny moments like these, she’s holding onto because she knows there won’t be any more.

“It's a lot of memories that we could just sit back and laugh about,” she said. “But that’s all we have. It's not right.”

Gunn says her uncle along with his girlfriend, Amber Hopewell, and her three young kids were the 5 people killed in that fiery crash Monday on the I-35W off-ramp to Seminary Drive.

She says that night, they were out just trying to make some extra cash.

“They was working, they were doing Doordash,” Gunn said.

Fort Worth police say 19-year-old Eduardo Gonzales slammed into them around 1 a.m.

“The car then caught on fire, and the five victims were pronounced dead on scene,” said Fort Worth police officer David Segura.

In an email, MedStar told WFAA the crash was so bad it was difficult to identify the victims.

“Burning alive like that is crazy," Gunn said.

Police say Gonzales was drunk. He’s charged with five counts of intoxication manslaughter and a DWI.

“He's 19, where did you get all this alcohol from?” Gunn said.

It’s a question investigators are looking to answer.

“All we can think about is how they were suffering in that car. What were they doing, screaming, were they praying?” Gunn said.

And as the Gunn family tries to process it all they hope that sharing their grief might prevent someone else from driving drunk.

A GoFundMe has been started to support one of the young victims who died in the crash.
