DALLAS, Texas — The bond between brothers is often an unbreakable connection. For Smiley Luna, he shared that bond with his younger brother Jacob. The two were 10 years apart but they were inseparable.
“For me it was always just having him next to me, showing him how to get the job done right,” Luna explained. “I changed his diapers, I fed him bottles, I did all that with him."
But that bond was severed last Friday night.
Dallas Police said 18-year-old Jacob was one of two people killed in a shooting on the 4600 block of Lafayette Street in Dallas. Once police arrived they found Jacob and Christopher Jackson suffering from gunshot wounds.
They were taken to the hospital where they died from their injuries.
A third person, who police believe is a possible suspect, was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, the release said.
Dallas PD has not yet said what led up to the shooting, but Jacob’s family said the 18-year-old got a call from a friend that two people were casing the friend’s apartment. Luna said his younger brother went there to help out that friend.
“I feel like they cut me short -- they cut me short of my time with him,” said Luna.
The family is asking for answers or any information that people may have regarding what happened.
Luna said those answers will help their family get justice for Jacob.
