Beloved longtime North Texas police officer passes away from medical complication, officials say

Fairview Assistant Chief Michael Sullivan served in law enforcement for numerous departments across North Texas for over 38 years.

FAIRVIEW, Texas — A longtime North Texas law enforcement official died unexpectedly Sunday after complications from a medical procedure, according to the Fairview Police Department.

The department's assistant police chief, Michael "Mike" Sullivan, died on Nov. 10. He had joined Fairview at the beginning of April. Before joining the Fairview Police Department, Sullivan worked in the city of Farmersville for nearly 14 years – 12 years as their Chief of Police and 1.5 years as Assistant City Manager. 

Before his time in Farmersville, Sullivan worked for the DeSoto Police Department for 19 years, Dallas County Constable's Office for 2.5 years and the Heath Police Department for almost three years.

All together, Sullivan served North Texas for more than 38 years.

Sullivan's Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. Services will be held at the Lakepointe Church in Rockwall.
