EULESS, Texas — A three-vehicle crash shut down Texas 121 through Euless and resulted in the death of one driver Thursday morning, police said.
The crash was reported shortly after 7 a.m. between Cheek-Sparger and Glade roads, in the northbound lanes of the highway. Police said a small Chevrolet SUV was going "at a high rate of speed and weaving through traffic" when it hit a disabled pickup truck.
The SUV had been trying to pass a vehicle on the inside shoulder of the highway when it the truck, according to a police news release.
The SUV then hit another vehicle and caught fire. The SUV driver, who was the only one in the vehicle, died at the scene, police said.
The driver of the disabled pickup truck was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The crash shut down the northbound lanes of the highway for several hours Thursday morning before all lanes were reopened by 11 a.m.
