Ennis City Manager resigns abruptly after four years with the city

In a statement, the city of Ennis said it accepted the resignation of City Manager Marty Nelson, effective immediately.

ENNIS, Texas — Ennis City Manager Marty Nelson resigned Wednesday and the city commission accepted his resignation, effective immediately, the city of Ennis said in a press release Wednesday. 

Nelson has served as city manager since 2020 and has overseen many changes in the city, the release states. 

"The City Commission would like to thank Mr. Nelson for his service to the City and wish him the best in his future endeavors" The statement reads. 

Nelson previously served as Director of Economic Development and Assistant City Manager in Ennis. 

Assistant City Manager Daniel Ortiz-Hernandez will serve as Interim City Manager immediately while the commission searches for Ennis' next city manager.
