ROUND ROCK, Texas Police detectives are trying to determine how Round Rock ISD's website was hacked Saturday night.
District spokeswoman JoyLynn Occhiuzzi said obscene and inappropriate messages were posted on the district and campus websites around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police detectives in this Austin suburb are now investigating the crime. Occhiuzzi says RRISD plans to press charges against whoever is found responsible.
Occhiuzzi told KVUE that the district/campus websites are operated by the online company SharpSchool. The district contacted the company about the hack, and the site was disabled by 1 a.m. Sunday.
Anyone trying to access the sites were instead seeing this message: 'All Round Rock ISD websites are currently unavailable. We apologize for this inconvenience.'
All of the information for campuses is on the SharpSchool server that was hacked. However, all personal information including personnel and student files are maintained on an RRISD server, and were not hacked.
