Driver of stolen car in custody after police chase that started in Plano, officials say

A police chase started Friday afternoon that reportedly started in Plano. The driver is now in custody, officials say.

PLANO, Texas — A driver of a stolen vehicle is in custody after getting involved in a police chase with officers Friday afternoon, the Plano Police Department said.

A little after 1 p.m. Friday, Plano officers began a chase with a driver in a stolen white Lexus vehicle that reportedly started in Plano. Around 2 p.m., Plano police said the chase was ongoing around the 3800 block of Purcell Drive. This is in North Garland near the Naaman Forest High School.

Soon after, police found the car at the intersection of 500 Overland Drive and 3800 Purcell Drive. The driver was not in the car and appeared to have run away from the scene.

A little before 2:30 p.m., Plano police provided an update and said the driver was in custody.
