FORT WORTH, Texas — A surveillance video recently released by a North Texas animal shelter shows a woman leaving a dog on the sidewalk near the shelter, and then driving away.
On Tuesday, the Humane Society of North Texas shared a video on Facebook showing a woman getting out of her van and taking a dog in a metal cage out of the back of her vehicle. She then walks along the sidewalk and leaves the dog before getting back in her van and driving away.
The animal shelter said that the dog is now safe and that a Humane Society of North Texas staff member found the dog within minutes of it being left there.
"She’s scared but healthy and will be ready for adoption in the next few days once cleared by our vet!" the shelter shared on Facebook.
The Humane Society of North Texas also finished its post by saying:
"It’s moments like these that remind us of how important our mission is to save, shelter, protect, and advocate for all animals in need in North Texas. And it’s thanks to the generosity of so many of you that we are able to do what we do. This is hard work and we see a side of humanity that can be really troubling, but then we read these comments and see all of you who love and advocate for animals in need… It means so much to all of us at HSNT!"
