DALLAS — DFW Airport, among the busiest in the country, is moving forward with a major upgrade.
Last year the airport revealed plans to build a new, sixth terminal – Terminal F, south of Terminal D.
The airport’s board and operations committee Thursday approved a contract with Innovation Next+ of Irving for a total of up to $914,026,758 for design and construction of the new terminal and its Skylink station, the airport confirmed to WFAA.
The terminal will include 15 gates and the new Skylink station., the airport said last year. As WFAA reported last year, construction is expected to begin on the terminal this year and expected to finish by 2026.
Terminal F is not the only project in the works at DFW Airport. As we previously reported, the airport also announced last year plans to spend an estimated $2.72 billion on projects including a “major reimagining of Terminal C," a key hub for Fort Worth-based American Airlines.
"Terminal C has been in its original state for about 50 years and it desperately needs to be reconstructed," DFW Airport CEO Sean Donohue said at the time. "The new terminal C will have even more space for our customers, even better technology, and an even better customer experience."
Donohue said the airport aims to finish Terminal C by 2028.
DFW Airport is home to 28 airlines – including 16 international airlines – with service to 256 destinations worldwide. With an estimated 80 million passengers in 2023.
